If any of the following pertain to you, youâre a freak.You donât fit in without some serious effort.You are not a big fan of settling or compromising.Youâre looking for a way to allow your weirdness to be an asset, and not as the deficit that people have tried to convince you it is.Now, withweirdnessbeing loosely defined, I would use that last bullet point to define myself as a freak. I started a blog, thatâs weird. I read an average of one book a week, thatâs weird.Quit ItBrogan lists some things thatmustbe discontinued in your life if you want to turn that freakiness into a business, no matter how much of a freak you are.Watching TV. Granted, I am somewhat a Netflix junkie, I donât just randomly spend hours on end watching it if I have other important things that need to be done. I have a to-do list for every day and once that list is finished, then I am free to get on with my shows.âKeeping Up.â Pay attention only to what and who is important to you. I doubt that includes the Kardashians.Following everyone who follows you on social media.More or less goes hand in hand with the previous.Living up to othersâ expectations. This may be my favorite from the âquit list.â Donât worry what other people think about you or your weirdness and don ât bother trying to fit into the box they put you in.Meetings. Probably the most useful nugget I picked up from this book is to keep meetings at 20 minutes or less unless you are getting paid. I actually try my best to plan my entire daily to-do list in 20-minute increments.Bragging.Gossip. I canâtstandit. Well before reading this book I have been an advocate of not talking about other people when they arenât around. It doesnât make you look better than them. Itâs really just another form of bullying if you ask me. Talk about important stuff.Hoping the world will like you. Who cares?Doing stuff out of a sense of obligation. This one was a little confusing. I had to read it a few times to understand. Basically, donât do things because youfeellike you have to. Figure out if you have to or not and then act accordingly.Buying dumb things. Iâm still working on this.Final ThoughtsMan, there is still so much to this book that I havenât covered. Brogan goes over different bu siness models you can use, planning for your future, different skills you need to acquire, etc. I learned a lot more than I expected to from this one. Iâd have to say my favorite section of the book is where Brogan goes over sketching a business model.Youâll have to read the book yourself to catch that part, though.If youâre a freak and you want to build a business,Chris Broganhas the blueprint. Boasting Is Not Part of Your Career Boasting Is Not Part of Your Career Boasting âainâtâ where itâs at. Never has. Never will. Look how far boasting got this guy: (watch this video) He thought he had done a great job and was celebrating himself in the end zone, except he neglected to see a very large mistake he made on the way there. Ouch. The very best football players, or for that matter, any worker, should never be boasting. You should always approach things with a sense of being grounded. Thereâs nothing wrong with being excited when everyone has a big win⦠but the key is to remember that no one person is responsible for the team or companyâs success. It takes a team, and if you take credit and boast, it only serves to isolate you. And when you boast about something either you messed up or took credit for something someone else did, you look like the foolish idiot like the football player above. When it comes to our careers, it is important to own our successes, but instead of saying, âI did this!â while thumping oneâs chest, itâs much better to say, âHereâs how I helped.â While most boasting mistakes donât play out live on national television, they can come back to haunt you. So remember to quietly celebrate your wins, but itâs only when you focus on being the helper to achieving that win rather than owning it outright, youâll have better career karma.

That, essentially, we dont deserve to make a full-time living doing what we love, to spend our time on what makes us happy, to pick up our guitar or our pens or our paints and play? Walmart CEO Doug McMillon and EY CEO Mark Weinberger are the headliners for a discussion on womenâs workplace issues, according to the Wall Street Journal. There is no context offered for why McMillon and Weinberger were selected. EY has been a leader in the financial sector on issues like generous paid parental leave policies and other perks for male and female employees. How To Write A 30-60-90-Day Plan That Gets You The Job Offer - Work It Daily How Do I Write A 30-60-90-Day Plan? 30-60-90-Day Plans are like miracle workers in job interviews. They show your potential new boss that you have focus, drive, energy, initiative, and dedication to success. They elevate your conversation about the job to more significant problem-solving discussions between professionals (rather than a flaw-seeking QA interrogation). Hiring managers are so excited to find someone who thinks in such a smart, critical way about what it will take to be successful in the role that they consistently extend fantastic job offers to candidates who bring a plan. Who doesnât want an interview like that? Related: 30-60-90-Day Plan: Your Key To Getting The Job Offer Once you know how amazing your job interview can be with a 30-60-90-Day Plan, your next question is: How Do I Write A 30-60-90-Day Plan? A 30-60-90-Day Plan is just what it sounds likeâ"it is a plan for each month of the first three months you will be in that new job. You list out what actions you think you will need to complete in that time frame in order to be successful then and in the future. Itâs a goal-setting exercise that also, incidentally, prepares you to answer interview questions in a much stronger way than ever before. 1st 30 Days The first 30 days of any job is typically focused on trainingâ"learning everything you need to know to function successfully in the job. Depending on the job, this may include company systems or software, products or services, customers or clients, etc. You are learning your way around and getting settled into the company. 2nd 30 Days (The 60-Day Section) The next 30 days of your job (the 60-day part) is typically focused more on getting rolling. Thereâs still learning that may need to happen, but generally less training and more activity. So, you may want to talk about how youâll learn more details, and become more familiar with the job and company. You may be able to solve some problems or generate some quick wins, and you will probably get feedback on how youâre doing so far. 3rd 30 Days (The 90-Day Section) The last 30 days should be filled with things that take more initiative on your part. Maybe youâll be handling projects on your own or initiating new ones. Maybe youâll bring in new business or solve larger problems. Avoid Mistakes A great plan is going to be at least three pages, with at least one page each devoted to each of the 30-day sections of the 90-day total. Donât make the mistake that some candidates make of bringing in a one page plan. That is nowhere near enough thought or preparation to attack a higher-level, professional job. To write a good plan, you must think critically about the job and what it will take for you to be successful in it, and you must do some good research on that particular company to find out the details (like the name of the software they use, for instance) that will make your plan âsing.â The more specific you are, the more youâll impress the hiring manager.
